From cake to cakesicle

1. Bake the cake

Use one 2 lb bag of 50Express White Cake Mix with 2⅔ cups water and ½ cup sour cream. The sour cream replaces the recipe’s ½ cup oil, 1 to 1. Follow the package mixing directions. Coat three Fat Daddio’s 8 × 2-inch round pans with Dawn baking/cooking spray. Bake at 325°F for 25–30 minutes, or until cooked through the middle. Let the cakes cool completely.

2. Shape the cakesicles

Place the cooled cake in your mixer and mix until it comes together into a dough. Press the dough into your cakesicle mold, insert food-safe popsicle sticks and release the shaped cakesicles.

3. Melt the coating

Place 50Express Premium White coating melts in a clean, dry, microwave-safe 16 oz deli cup, leaving room to stir. Heat for 30 seconds and stir thoroughly. Repeat for another 30 seconds only if needed. If pieces remain, continue in 10-second intervals, stirring after every interval. Stop heating as soon as the coating is melted. Stirring helps the remaining pieces melt without unnecessary heat.

4. Dip & let the excess fall

Dip each shaped cakesicle into the melted coating. Gently tap the arm holding the cakesicle to help excess coating fall back into the cup. Allow the coating to set.

5. Drizzle & add Dodgers pride

Spoon a little melted coating into a 10-inch or 14-inch 50Express tipless pastry bag. Snip off only a tiny piece of the tip and drizzle over the cakesicle. Add a small dab of melted coating where the pre-cut edible image will sit. Remove any backing as directed on the image packaging, place the image and let it set. A home-run treat for your guests or customers!

Keep the coating clean and dry. Store only unused coating that has not picked up cake crumbs or moisture, following its package storage directions.
